My husband and I went to Latino's to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We had a nice enjoyable "grown-up" meal together. There was nice "live" background music, which my husband appreciated since he is a musician. We try to get to Latino's at least once a year, when we can get away from the craziness of family life with three active children. Great place for an evening out!

Most kids beg their parents for McDonalds, ours constantly beg us to go to Latino's. During the four years we have lived in Erie, we have dined at Latino's several times and have never been disappointed.

In my opinion, Latino's rates extrememely high in every area I consider important in a restaurant.

The food is authentic Mexican cuisine, not your typical homogenized variety found in most Mexican restaurants. We have sampled almost everything on the menu (except those with nuts since my daughter is allergic) and it has met all our high expectations. There are two reasons for this consistency. They purchase only high quality ingredients, both locally, and some specialized items like chile peppers are purchased during their travels to California. If they cannot find acceptable product they will not substitute just to have something to serve. The second reason is the owner's mother is the chef and you can tell her heart is in making great food which is prepared to order. Our favorite items include the roasted chille salsa, cactus salad, guacamole, rajas peppers, and the plantains. There always seems to be something new, last week it was water infused with flowers which my kids loved.

Service is top notched, everyone who works there is the owner's family so they all have a stake in the place. Julio the owner is everpresent in the dining room, available to answer any questions, make suggestions and to ensure things run smoothly. He personally engages everyone who walks through the door, making them feel welcome even children. I suggest calling ahead for reservations, so they can plan accordingly. This is not a high volume, get you in, feed you, get you out place.

I like the atmopshere, it is quiet, a little ecclectic in its furnishing and decor (old safes, stoves and many cool plants), and is always clean and cheerful. It is casual restaurant, and our children are always treated well. The live pianist is a great touch.

I would recommend Latino's to anyone who is interested in quality authentic Mexican cuisine and appreciates a well run local restaurant.

Very nice atmosphere and easy to talk with your date, spouse, friend. The lighting also allowed being able to see your food and your company as well. I really liked the attention you get from the owner. The food was delicious, not your normal eveyday Mexican food. The Mojitos were very good to! I can't wait to visit for dinner again.

What a friendly, inviting place. Had one of the specials. I was afraid that it would be too spicy but the yogurt sauce cooled it down so all that was left was the great flavor. The chicken was so tender you didn't need a knife. Can't believe its been there for 14 years and this was my first experience.

WOW! What great food. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome as soon as we walked in. One of the owners sons was our server and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! He first suggested their specials and explained to us where he was from and how the food is REAL home cooking. My favorite! He went onto explain how it is a family rest. and his mother is the cook. GOOD FOR HER  We first ordered guacamole. Can I say AMAZING! I really like guac and this was the best I ever had. It was so fresh and full of flavor. I ordered the pork...something with verde at the end of it. I can't remember. Wow it was good perfect spiciness. and I don't even like spicy. We also got the chicken enchiladas which were also delish! I couldn't have had a better experience!!!! I was so full I couldn’t finish my meal, I was excited to bring it home just to have some later. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Our dinner tonight at Latino's was full of surprises, from the moment our two friends from North East unexpectedly walked through the door to my wonderful Comida Corrida, a diced beef dish prepared to perfection in a spicy red sauce. Slowly fried plantains, sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon and topped with sour cream were as delightful as the conversation. We are grateful that owner Julio Reyes decided to bring his authentic Mexico City cuisine to Erie's original main street -- Parade Street -- and that he had the vision to see in this neighborhood what others sometimes overlook. An after-dinner stroll along the new sidewalks, flowering trees, and architectural treasures made us wonder why we don't come here more often.

LATINO'S isn't just the best, authentic Mexican cuisine....it's owned by Julio Reyes and his wife, two of the warmest, most hospitable people I've ever met. Their determined efforts to provide not only delicious food, but to upgrade the quality of life in the area around their restaurant is unlike anything I've ever see in this, my hometown. But, the food is just wonderful -- guacamole so fresh every time, no fluff fillers, no excessive salt........the hot entrees with sauces of a perfect consistency, and the meat sooo tender.....my favorite: chicken enchilada with green chile and mozzarella.....and, my dad loves the stuffed Poblano pepper! You've just GOT to get over there and try them out!!!

I love coming to Latino's!! The service is great, the owner remembers us every time we come in. It's truly Authentic!! I've been to Mexico several times and this is truly the real deal. Not just your Taco's and Enchilada's. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal there, everything is great! I suggest the Pollo con Mole and the Almendrado

I have to agree with the rest of the reviewers, Latino's is one of the BEST restaurants I have eaten at in ages. ALL of the food is prepared fresh daily, most by the order, so you will need to be patient, but it's worth the wait when they serve it to you! If you like FRESH, TASTY FOOD, this is the place, if you like EXCELLENT MEXICAN FOOD, then definitely stop here at Latino's. We had to order a 2nd order of Guacamole & Chips since the first one was so tasty! As a side note, i believe since the food is all prepared fresh and is not processed pre-packaged food & ingredients, that this must have been the reason why neither of us had zero stomach discomfort after this wonderful meal. What a difference from chain restaurants!

The Shrimp appetizer (COCKTAIL DE CAMARONES) was fantastic, with so many tastes playing on your tongue, it was served in a giant open sea shell and contained numerous tasty shrimp marinated in lime juice and mixed with tomatoes, onion, cilantro, along with chopped fresh pieces of avacado on top.

For dinner, my wife ordered the Chiles Rellenos which I got to taste, and they were some of the best I have ever had anywhere.

I ordered the Specialty of the Day which is called, COMIDA CORRIDA. The menu says: "This entree is cooked in small quantities to preserve the authentic flavor and homemade taste. Grandma chooses every day what to eat for dinner and makes her final selection".....Well I got to eat some of grandma's dinner too! The prepared shredded beef was in a mild/medium spiced sauce with delicious rice & refried beans dinner, and it did not disappoint. It was served with several fresh flour tortillas that I quickly filled with the beef, rice, beans, and some guacamole. The flavors were incredible. Every day this dish is different, and we hear that grandma who happens to be the resaurant's chef, has over 300 recipes. We would love to try them all!

We tried two yummy desserts too, Fried Plantains drizzled with a vanila vream, & Coconut & Rum Flan. Both were a very nice finish to the meal.

Between servings, we talked with the owner Julio Reyes who was always checking in on us. What a proud owner he is, and his & his family's pride show in the food they present here at Latino's. Julio told us that he owns a software company out in California, and that the restaurant is his retirement plan, and gives his mother who loves to cook, plenty to keep busy with. He's back and forth to CA, but if you can catch him there at the restaurant, he'll happily chat away with you.

Bottom line...whether you live in Erie, or are just visiting, you absolutely must put Latino's on your short list of places to eat. For those of you who live out of town, you just might want to travel to Erie for some of the finest Mexican food you can find....as it wins my choice as the best Mexican food north of Mexico & east of the West Coast!
    Try it and see!

My husband & I ate at Latino's tonight for the first time. This is hands down the best dining experience in Erie & the most authentic Mexican food I've had in the states. This is real Mexican food made with the freshest ingredients. The atmosphere & the people are also wonderful. Great service all around & Julio is so welcoming & informative in describing the food. We will definitely be back soon & often!

Julio the owner is very helpful in helping chose items from the menu and describing each item you may be interested in and advising which Mexican beer you may like. I had the Queso Fundido and the Comida Corrida both of which were excellant. I will be back. Thank you again Julio.

Excellent restaurant! Finding authentic Mexican food in Erie still astounds me -- but they have it. It was like eating at the places I've experienced while traveling through Mexico. I especially recommend the pollo en mole -- truly delicious. Julio et al have created a beautiful place with fantastic food that you'd be nuts not to try.

If you haven’t experienced Latinos in Erie, you are missing the opportunity to please your pallet with an authentic Mexican culinary experience. We have been to Latinos on a few occasions and took another couple with us Saturday night – so we could share the experience. This family owned restaurant ensures that everything is made fresh – and I mean fresh! This is a true fine dining experience – so ensure you are ready to relax, enjoy good company, and take your time to savor the flavors. Start with their appetizers: You must try their Guacamole – it’s spectacular! Also, their Rajitas are fantastic! When it comes to entrees, you need to ensure that at least one person in your group selects their Comida Corrida – grandma’s special of the day. If you’ve been there before, you know that you may want to call the day of your reservations and “pre-order” this item – because they may sell out. Julio is always certain to visit your table to ensure that you enjoyed their food and your visit was everything you expected. We love the personal touch and the opportunity to chat. Finally, Julio and his family go beyond providing a wonderful dining experience and participate in many community programs.

When we think of authentic Mexican food, Latino's is our first choice. The food is great, the atmosphere is very relaxing and pleasant. The decor is very nicely done, with some handmade tables and some artwork from the owners daughter. The food is truly Mexican as the family originally comes from Mexico City. Latino's has been in Erie for 13 years now. One of the things I truly enjoy is the tamal appetizer. It comes stuffed with chicken or cheese and a tomatilla sauce on the side. It is very similar to ones I got in Mexico while there on a mission trip. The other entree's are very good. Some are spicy and some are mild. My favorite is the Puerco en Chile Verde. It is very delicious pork in a green tomatilla salsa with potatoes, rice and re-fried beans. Another popular dish is the Comida Corrida. It is basically what Grandma has cooked up for the day and is the daily special. If you want to try great authentic Mexican food in a truly wonderful Mexican atmosphere, this is THE place in the Erie area.

This local restaurant is one of Erie's best kept secrets. When you enter this authentic Mexican restaurant you find a quaint dining experience. From the pastel walls, old architecture, cactus, and perfectly prepared food you would think you were not in Erie but in Mexico.
The Comida Corrida was delicious. Comida Corrida is a traditional dish created in Mexico as what "grandma" prepared for the special dinner...so it changes every time.
Can't wait to try the other dishes.

Between the dining environment that makes you feel like you are right in Mexico, to the warm pleasantness and accommodations of their servers, to the authentic, Mexican dishes and selections, the dining experience at Latinos will truly be an experience one will not forget. For me, the pasta-shell, vegetable soup was an excellent way to start. The zesty-spices really pleases the taste-buds of anyone who favors a meal with pizazz. Chicken Enchiladas with green salsa really hit the spot as well. The portions were also more than sufficient even for a guy like me whose appetite knows no bounds. If you want a truly first-class Mexican dining experince, then Latinos is where you need to go.

The food at Latinos is "clean," not overly oily or with incompatible seasonings, like you find at so many restaurants. The quality of the ingredients is top-notch.

I rarely find a restaurant that I can eat at where I do not feel poorly after eating. So many restaurants use artificial ingredients. This is one of the few that I eat and I actually feel great afterward! I highly recommend a visit to a wonderful gem in our city.

While easily the best Mexican restaurant in town, Latino's may be the best restaurant in Erie of any type. The food is lovingly prepared, with great fresh ingredients, and the service is second to none. Our "must haves" are the ceviche and the daily special (whatever it may be). But, the entire menu is a delight. Julio and his family make us feel like family, too. If you love delicious food in a relaxing atmosphere, try Latino's. You will not be disappointed.

Latino’s has a huge menu, so everyone will find a favorite meal there. So far mine is the Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo. It’s super large shrimp cooked in garlic and spices. The service was friendly and prompt. This is the best in Mexican cuisine.

We've been dining at Latino's since they opened in 1996 and have always enjoyed it. The menu has something for everyone, the ingredients are quite obviously fresh, everything is made from scratch, and the service is great. Their guacamole is the best I've tasted anywhere and the salads are consistently excellent (try the nopalitos, made from cactus). The mole is superb, too. I've also heard the flautas dish is wonderful, and plan to order it the next time we go. Owner Julio Reyes stocks a full bar with the best selection of Mexican beers and tequilas around. In short, a great place!

By far the best Mexican restaurant I've been to. Julio, Lilia, Natalie, and Veronica are wonderful and we feel like they are family. The food is out of this world! If you want the best mole, and probably the only mole in Erie, Go. To. Latinos. If I could eat there every week, I would. Maybe they want another daughter?

Basically, if you want great hospitality and amazing food in general, go eat there immediately!

We have lived in Erie for 4 years and had yet to try a Mexican restaurant in the area. We love the idea of locally owned, family run restaurants so were pleased to find word of such with Latinos. We were not disappointed. This is not your standard Mexican restaurant. Everything is made from the mothers family recipes (from Mexico City) and is delicious. The owner, Julio, was there and was extremely helpful in deciding what to order as well choosing a good Mexican beer. We went with the daily specials, me a beef dish and my wife pork. Both were wonderful. Julio is very friendly and made a point of talking with every table. Definitely a find and highly recommended!

Oh, almost forgot. The Bunuelos was to die for for dessert.

This restaurant serves authentic Mexican food. It is not your usual Tex-Mex burritos and tacos. They purchase and use only fresh ingredients that are in season and that is reflected on their specials and overall menu items.

Julio, the owner, is very friendly and when he is at the restaurant he makes point to either serve as many guests as possible himself or at least stop by each table and ask how they like the food and service.

The selection of true mexican beers is excellent and salsa dancing sessions during the weekend are really fun.

We LOVE Latinos! We frequent this excellent restaurant and receive the same great service every time. The food is superb! Between the two of us, we almost always get the Camarones a La Diabla and whatever the special is that day. When we say that this is authentic Mexican food, we mean it, as it is cooked by Julio's mother in their upstairs kitchen with the tender, loving care that can only come from a mother's cooking! Besides the delicious, homemade food, we always enjoy our conversations with Julio. This place is truly a jewel in Erie dining!

My first experience with Latino's was this past Sunday during the Taste of Erie at the Brewerie at Union Station. Julio was offering samplings of his potato cakes with a zucchini flower side and a great green bean salad. The refreshing part of trying their food was you could tell all the ingredients were fresh and made from scratch. This was not something they had bought from a purveyor and heated up. For years we have traveled right past the restaurant and I look forward to putting it on our list of places to visit for next year's Ride N Dine Club. I review over 50 restaurants a year from our club and since I am not planning on visiting Mexico anytime soon I do know we will be enjoying authentic Latino food in days to come.

If you haven't experienced the culinary delights of Latinos, then you are missing something. This favorite restaurant of mine, never seize to amaze me with its home-style, delicious, authentic Mexican delicacies. Not to mention, ardently taught dance lessons that follow the gourmet dinner!! Above all Julio, Lilia, and Veronica's hospitality is incredible which makes Lations stand out among the resturants in Erie.

Latino's stands out among Erie restaurants for offering authentic and homestyle Mexican cuisine. There is nothing typical about the menu offerings (you won't find any burritos here), and you can expect many of the dishes to be spicy. Owner Julio Reyes is warm, chatty and informative, and very unapologetic about the cultural integrity of some of the more spicy dishes. He and his family are very charming in their passion for providing a unique dining experience, which is particularly evident in the decor of the restaurant and features pieces created by his daughter. Be sure to inquire about the "Comida Corrida," a daily special which is sure to please those who seek delicious homemade food.

I was treated to a most unexpected surprise when I dined at Latino's. Not only was the atmosphere bright and pleasant, but the service was excellent. The food was delectable and the owner, Julio interesting and informative as I have had little experience with Mexican cuisine. I would have never expected such fine dining in that area of Erie. Continued success in your business and bringing such originality to the area!

We moved to Erie from Dallas and thought I had good Mexican food. I was wrong. Latinos is by far the best Mexican food I ever had. Everything tasted great. The restaurant has great decor and the environment is very welcoming. Julio, Lilia, and Veronica gave us dance lessons. The dance floor is better than an y other other in Erie. Over all after my first visit this has became the favorite restaurant and Dance place.

If you are looking for wonderfully authentic Mexican food, then head to Latino's in Erie, PA. The owner took our order and his mother prepares the delicious meals. The specials that night delighted us and the guacamole with homemade tortilla chips is made with fresh ingredients. The cheese enchiladas with mole sauce and an appetizer of rajitas (poblano peppers with cheese) were a hit with our group. We live an hour south of Erie in Crawford Co., but Latino's is definitely worth the trip!

This is the most authentic Mexican food you'll find in Erie (and this region). Friday nights usually have a piano player, the staff is friendly and helpful for first time goers. I tried the Chile Relleno the first time I went and have been hooked ever since. My new favorite dish is Cheese Enchiladas with Mole. I'd also recommend the margaritas, they're gourmet! I wouldn't come expecting the typical Tex-Mex tacos and fajitas, but if you are looking for something authentic and delicious, you won't be disappointed at Latino's.

You are embraced by accents of Mexico when you enter this little restaurant in Erie, PA. It is traditional Mexican style where you can feel the true spirit upon entering. You are greeted in English but you hear their language and music in the background. I chose the special, a tasty beef dish served with the traditional tortillas, rice and beans. The specials change daily and are based on availability of the fresh seasonal ingredients. The salad was a blend of sweet/salty fresh flavors including mixed greens, jicama, dried fruit, olive oil and a little fresh lime, unusual and truly divine. Although I have 2 left feet, I am told they have some Latin music & salsa dancing on Saturdays….hmmm.

Excellent and authentic Mexican restaurant! All the food is cooked fresh every day from fresh ingredients. You have to try their guacamole with home made crunchy tortilla chips. They also have a great selection of authentic mexican beers (and I am not talking about XX).

If you feel like dancing, you can also check out their salsa dancing lessons that they regularly offer in the back (on a cool dance floor separate from the restaurant but still connected).
